Your wakeup call is at 0600 hrs to prepare for breakfast and departure after a pre-safari briefing. Have a final check on the luggage before embarking on the 6-hour drive to the Mara at 0700 hrs. Drive through the scenic lush farmlands before arriving at the rift valley escarpment for a brief photography stopover. The Great Rift Valley stretches from Syria through East Africa and as far as Mozambique. The view as you approach from Nairobi is breathtaking-with the ground suddenly disappearing from under you to expose the huge expanse of the great rift, stretching into the horizon in either direction. The magnificent descent into the Lake-area of the Great Rift is a “not to be missed” opportunity. Proceed West arriving at the Camp in time for hot lunch at 1300 hrs. Early afternoon is at leisure to refresh and get ready for your Photo Safari adventure. Venture out for the early evening game drive at 1600 hrs in search of the big cats and other game species. Return to the Mara Base Camp in time for dinner and your overnight stay. The Maasai Mara is the most visited reserve in Kenya with its black mane lions and the annual wildebeest migration adding to the thrill of it. Its ecosystem supports an extraordinary density of animals such as the Big five and a variety of plains game. The Mara River cuts through the Mara and Serengeti eco systems giving life to the both reserves before finally pouring out into the Lake Victoria.

Your 6 days’ photography adventure at the Maasai Mara starts here. Our safari guide will walk you through to help you get the most out of every safari. Early morning wakeup call at 0500 hrs gets you ready for some coffee or tea served with biscuits before venturing out for the Safari. Depart the camp at 0600 hrs in search of the big cats and other game species. This will always be determined by the wildlife migration patterns and prevailing weather conditions. There will be a bush picnic breakfast at 1000 hrs to spice up the adventure. Continue with the game drive before returning to the camp at 1100 hrs for rest and lunch. Venture out for the early evening game drive at 1500 hrs returning to the camp at 1900 hrs for dinner and your overnight stay at the Mara Crossing Camp. The will be a scheduled pre-safari meeting with our Safari director to plan for the next day’s safari.
ABOUT THE CAMP: An eco-friendly luxury tented camp, the Mara Base Camp is uniquely located on the banks of the scenic Mara River. The camp’s lies among indigenous shrubs, in the thick of the resident game, making it a perfect vantage point for the crossing points of the wildebeest migration. Well-marked animal trails meander between the 8 spacious, ensuite tents with a perfect scenic view to dream the afternoon away. It is ideally located in the famous Musiara region teeming with wildebeest and the carnivorous predators. Its close proximity to the various wildebeest’s fording point’s offers unique sighting of the annual spectacle along the Serengeti – Mara ecosystem.

Today we will be spending in the vast Eco-system of the Mara searching for the big five and much more. Game viewing is great from the air with the opportunity for beautiful pictures. The annual wildebeest migration is expected in the Maasai Mara between July and early November. Millions of animals migrate to the Mara from Serengeti in search for fresh green pastures and water. You also have an optional balloon safari — Many call it a once in a life time experience, once you are up, you won’t want to come down, and once you land, champagne breakfast awaits you.

Have breakfast at 0630hrs and leave the camp at 0700hrs with packed picnic lunch. Enjoy a full day game drive in search of animals in this park. Among the animals you can look forward to seeing include the Masai Giraffe, Lion, Cheetah, Leopard, elephants, hippos, crocodiles, Thompson’s gazelles, Grant’s gazelles, impalas, topis, zebras, wildebeest, warthogs, hyenas, dik-dik, klipspringer, waterbuck, bushbuck, Coke’s heartbeest, black rhino, eland, baboons, fox, jackals as well as numerous bird species including ostrich, cormorants, grebes, storks, falcons, bastards among others. Return to the lodge in the evening to enjoy the camp facilities and relax awaiting dinner.

Enjoy the last day with an early morning game drive in search of the big cats and other game species at 0630.Return to the camp at 0900 hrs for breakfast and refreshing before heading to the airstrip for your flight back to Nairobi. Upon arrival in Nairobi, you will be transferred to the Hotel Karen Blixen Tamambo for lunch after which you will be transferred to the JKIA for your departing flight.
